Awaken Pittsburgh is a young 501(c)(3) working to bring mindfulness-based social and emotional regulation skills to a variety of audiences.  We are expanding our programming and branching into new areas.  To support our growth, we are looking for a competent Program Coordinator to manage program delivery and a variety of administrative tasks.

As Program Coordinator, you will help in planning, organizing and delivering mindfulness-based programs and presentations as well as carry out important operational duties. To be an excellent Program Coordinator, you must be organized and detail-oriented, comfortable working with diverse teams. Because our programming focuses on mindfulness, competency in delivery of meditation/mindfulness programs is required. Further skills in program development and human resources support would be helpful.

The goal will be to facilitate the effective management of programs in accordance with the values of Awaken Pittsburgh (see our principles here –  Currently Awaken Pittsburgh’s office is working virtually, but some program delivery is in person.


  • Support planning, coordination, and delivery of programming and presentations
  • Supervise program deliverers to ensure high quality of service and fidelity to curricula
  • Use Asana software to manage programs and coordinate research
  • Set up Eventbrite & manage registrations for online programs
  • Work with social media/marketing team to advertise programming and recruit new clients
  • Support program-related communications through media relations, social media, etc.
  • Help build positive relations within the team of deliverers, participants, and clients
  • Schedule and organize meetings/events for program deliverer team and maintain agenda
  • Facilitate use of technology (zoom, google drive, Mighty Networks) for all program delivery
  • Support our online community of practice through development and posting of content and community-building on Mighty Networks with volunteers
  • Order and track inventory of program materials
  • Support researcher by communicating about programming; sharing research reports with clients & participants
  • Help to write final reports or project proposals
  • Support growth and program development/updating
  • Conduct mindfulness programming and presentations

Skills/Experience Required

  • Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position
  • Knowledge of adult education program management and development procedures
  • Knowledge of program research and reporting
  • Tech savvy: proficient in MS Office, Google Drive, Zoom, Asana, etc.
  • Embraces antiracism, diversity, and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and efficient
  • Deep personal mindfulness practice for at least 5 years
  • Familiarity with research on and the development/delivery of Mindfulness-Based Interventions
  • Experience and understanding of how to support the journey of mental health and wellbeing
  • Experience delivering trauma-sensitive mindfulness and meditation practices and curricula

Salary: This position is 20 hours per week @ $20-$25/hour, depending on experience.

Paid Time Off:  Vacation & Personal Days after 3 Months of Service

You have one week/20 hours per year to use for vacation, sick leave &/or personal days.

Unpaid Leave & Holidays:

You have up to two weeks/40 hours unpaid per year to go on a practice meditation/mindfulness retreat(s).  These can be used consecutively or spread across multiple retreats. We ask for proof of registration/payment for each retreat.

  • Memorial Day,
  • Independence Day (4th of July),
  • Labor Day,
  • Thanksgiving Day & Friday after Thanksgiving,
  • Christmas Eve & Day
  • Your birthday!
  • Any of these can be exchanged for other religious observances such as Rosh Hashanah or Eid al-Fitr or others.
