Summary:

Café Momentum Pittsburgh seeks an experienced Business Manager to oversee the day-to-day HR and finance responsibilities for a new nonprofit restaurant that works to provide employment, life skills training, and wraparound care to youth exiting juvenile detention facilities. The ideal candidate is highly organized and process-oriented with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces under pressure and a deep desire to positively contribute to the community.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Providing payroll and benefit administration
  • Posting job openings and managing the interview and hiring process
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Preparing checks and deposits
  • Downloading and inputting bank account transactions
  • Downloading and inputting credit card transactions
  • Working with the CPA and/or attorneys to file all end-of-year reports, 990s and audits
  • Managing vendor payments and other bills via accounting software (fully paperless)
  • Preparing W-2 and 1099 filings
  • Preparing new account banking documents
  • Preparing and recording journal entries
  • Preparing cash flow and cash management reports
  • Preparing budgets and comparison of actual to budget
  • Assisting with grants tracking, outcomes and reporting
  • Ensuring permits have been renewed
  • Assisting insurance broker by providing updated information necessary for commercial, liability, workers compensation and director’s insurance renewals
  • Opening, organizing and distributing/scanning department mail daily
  • Assisting in document scanning and maintain client data files
  • Ensuring timely month-end procedures are completed:
    • Monthly bank reconciliations of bank and employee credit card activity
    • Collection of monthly reports (inventories, intern meals, restaurant analysis)
  • Ensuring weekly procedures are completed:
    • Accounts Payables/Receivables
    • Restaurant revenue reporting
    • Restaurant/catering and donor deposits Weekly and Semi-Monthly payroll
    • Employee Reimbursements
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Your Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role (experience in the nonprofit sector in a similar role, a plus)
  • Clear knowledge of Financial Reporting, including Balance Sheets and Income Statements
  • Experience working with payroll services and Quickbooks
  • Impeccable ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, oral, and public speaking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to see projects through to completion
  • A self-starter who has the ability to work both as a part of a remote team and independently
  • Sense of humor and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A lifelong learner who enjoys solving problems

Working Environment:

This is a full-time position. On-site work may be conducted in detention facilities, restaurant environments, outdoor environments, in the community (homes, business, etc.), in street environments, and with system-involved individuals. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, document projectors, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Momentum Advisory Collective provides a workplace free from recognized hazards and complies with standards, rules and regulations issued under the OSH Act.

Salary & Benefits

Salary is $55,000 – $65,000.

About Café Momentum

Café Momentum is a nonprofit restaurant and culinary training facility that provides life skills, education and employment to justice-involved youth. Over the course of our 12-month curriculum, interns rotate through all aspects of the restaurant, while focusing on the development of social and life skills alongside a comprehensive case management team. In so doing, we work to establish a baseline of stability in their young lives, providing an ecosystem of support around our interns. Serving fresh, locally sourced, sophisticated American cuisine, every meal is prepared and served by our award-winning team of chefs and the young men and women involved in our program.
