About the Position:

The Senior Director of the Center for Museum Advancement is responsible for the overall coordination, development and operation of the Children’s Museum’s fundraising efforts to achieve the Museum’s mission.  Leading a high powered team, the Senior Director will play a critical role as the museum maps its future as a creative learning institution.  This position requires a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results year after year.  They play a vital role in the management of the museum. Essential Job Duties:

  • Supervises Director of Development, Membership Manager, Individual Giving Coordinator, Special Events and Donor Relations Coordinator, Advancement Administrator.
  • Assists the Executive Director in seeking and securing funding for ongoing operations and capital/special projects.  Current annual operating fundraising goal is approximately $5 million.
  • Provide in-depth mentoring to staff of the Center for Museum Advancement.
  • Establish a corporate giving and sponsorship program.
  • Serves as an active member of the Museum’s Management Team.


Education:  A bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Graduate degree or equivalent in a related field preferred.

Experience:  Minimum of 5 years supervisory/management experience required.  5 years’ experience in professional fundraising including knowledge of Annual Giving, Capital Campaign, Foundation/Corporate solicitations, Individual Giving, including Legacy Giving and Special Events.

Skills: Ability to work cross-departmentally.  Strong project management and grant management skills preferred. Experience with MS Office Suite required, SiriusWare, Raiser’s Edge or another CRM preferred. Excellent professional communication skills, including both verbal and written communications with internal and external stakeholders. Familiarity with non-profit budgets and departmental budget oversight.

Physical Requirements, and Equipment Usage: Predominantly sedentary type position; however, may move about the museum as necessary in normal course of administrative and supervisory activities.

Work Environment, Hours of Work, and Travel Requirements:  Position requires occasional weekend availability and for special events. Duties will be performed in a museum environment, which includes interaction with the public and exposure to children and families.

Clearances:  FBI fingerprint, PA Child Abuse (Act 33) and PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearances are required.
