Genesis of Pittsburgh has an immediate opening for a part-time Development and Marketing Associate. This newly created position will work closely with the Executive Director and senior staff to establish strategy for development and marketing programs to position the organization for growing success. Candidates should be self-motivated and organized with an ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is a part-time 15-20 hour per week position with the potential for growth to a full-time opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Development

  • Administer donor database system, Bloomerang, which includes data entry of donations, donor acknowledgements, donor engagement tracking and gift reporting.
  • Assist in the coordination of donor mailings including annual direct mail, special mailings, sponsorship and in-kind solicitations.
  • Write and send other donor correspondences as needed.
  • Create reports and tracking systems for development activities such as memorial and honor gifts, special giving projects such as Pittsburgh Foundation Critical Needs Alert and Washington Community Foundation Giving Day.
  • Work closely with finance manager to ensure donations are categorized correctly.
  • Assist in all aspects of event planning and fundraising campaigns, including management of the annual Silent Auction and raffles.

Marketing

  • Manage all aspects of social media channels, including creating content calendar for approval, designing images, scheduling content, monitoring comments/engagement, making suggestions for advertisements and more.
  • Design and create eblasts. Maintain contact lists and email calendar, scheduling email communication with lists.
  • Update the organization’s website with day-to-day changes.
  • Draft/assist in writing communications content: client stories, newsletter articles, website content, thank you letters, and other writing assignments as needed.
  • Create basic flyers and promotional materials as needed using Canva
  • Assist in creating video content
  • Photograph special events, distributions/donation drop offs, classes, and other notable events

Qualifications:

  • BA and 1-2 years of experience in nonprofit, marketing, public relations or fundraising preferred
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with donor database, Bloomerang preferred
  • Experience with social media and design software
  • Familiarity with video production a plus
  • Excellent computer skills with high proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office
  • Must be extremely organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines and calendars efficiently
  • Experience planning large-scale events and fundraisers including working with fundraising software a plus
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends when required
  • Criminal History clearance, Child Abuse clearance (Act 33 and 34), and FBI background check are required.
