Salary: $55,000-$58,000, commensurate with experience

Summary Description:

The Manager, Membership Engagement is responsible for implementing a year-round strategic membership plan for overall membership growth.  The Manager is responsible for supervising staff and managing recruitment and retention efforts with the membership engagement teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in partnership with the Director, Membership Engagement to assess current membership methods and tools, institute best practices, and implement necessary modifications
  • Oversee leaders of teams that recruit, retain, and increase sustainable girl and adult membership in assigned area and/or specific demographic groups
  • Represent Girl Scouting in the community through presentations, collaborative efforts, and networking
  • Implement short-term contingency strategies in areas of responsibility as developed in coordination with the Director, Membership Engagement
  • Ensure the coordinated implementation of all aspects of the membership, volunteer management and program strategies in assigned area
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive recruitment and retention plans for membership growth and leading the membership engagement team
  • Collaborate with other teams including outreach program, marketing, and product program teams to ensure effective implementation of recruitment and retention strategies


  • Bachelor’s degree in volunteer management, non-profit management or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with proven success in volunteer management and support
  • Ability to lead, mentor and motivate staff, both remotely and in person
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly
  • Able to anticipate issues, obstacles, or opportunities that may impact plans or actions and establish courses of action for accomplishing goals while attending to and incorporating information obtained during day-to-day duties
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook and willingness and ability to learn new systems
  • Experience managing an annual budget
  • Must be organized, detail orientated, and customer focused
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to work and maintain a flexible schedule
  • Occasional regional and local travel
