The Digital Giving Specialist is responsible for supporting the Food Bank’s fundraising efforts with the responsibility and goal to retain and acquire individual donors through a variety of digitally based strategies. This position will work under the supervision of the Director of Individual Giving and in collaboration with other development staff and third-party partners to manage continuous growth in online revenue, develop plans to steward and retain online donors, and create a best-in-class online experience for our supporters. The Digital Giving Specialist is responsible for researching, planning, and executing strategies to identify, acquire, convert and retain digital donors to support the organization’s long term financial goals. This position manages all aspects of the giving process for digital gifts including strategy for donor acquisition and online appeals that generate significant revenue and partnering with a vendor to execute segments of the plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Multi-Channel Fundraising

  • Play a key role in overall fundraising goals – with direct ownership of digital strategies designed to grow and diversify online donor-base and engage and retain existing donors
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Digital Media Specialist (MARCOM) regularly, to ensure consistency and collaboration of Food Bank’s digital strategies across departments
  • Work with direct response partner to ensure coordinated and integrated fundraising/supporter strategies
  • Drive the creation of donor centered content and creative

Online Giving Strategy

  • Responsible for the online fundraising plan and managing growth
  • Help maintain and optimize online donation forms, processes and user experiences
  • Responsible for planning donation pages and form optimization testing, building tracking, monitoring analytics and creating performance criteria of all digital fundraising channels to determine best practices and strategies
  • Synthesize and analyze giving data to inform stewardship and growth strategies
  • Guide research efforts related to individual philanthropic trends in related industry and apply findings to plans and strategies

Monthly Giving Program

  • Build plans to actively and continuously convert donors to sustainer giving
  • Retain and steward a group of 3,000+ sustainer donors
  • Tailor and segment communications to monthly donors to cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with this dedicated group of donors

Email Planning & Deployment

  • Build and deploy emails to support email fundraising, engagement and stewardship strategies
  • HTML coding, audience creation and segmentation, A/B testing, building donation forms, and some creative design
  • Create new ways to collect email addresses and limit unsubscribes to encourage growth of email database

Online Fundraising Platform Ownership

  • Build and assist in maintaining peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns in collaboration with Community Fundraising Team, including identifying and evaluating new opportunities for online, peer-to-peer and other DIY fundraising
  • Provide quality and timely technical troubleshooting support to other Development team members. Serving as main point of contact with online giving partner
  • Provide excellent technical support for online donors — maintain personal contact and good relationships with donors through timely and polite responses to donor inquiries
  • Work with Development colleagues to ensure appropriate coding of online gifts in database for reporting, acknowledgement, recognition, communications and continued cultivation of donors

Development Team Player:

  • Serve as an active member of the Development team, contributing to goal setting, revenue generation and the refinement of processes and procedures
  • Provide onsite and offsite support for other activities as needed
  • Perform related responsibilities as required

Education and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has 2+ years of digital fundraising experience, either in a nonprofit or at a direct response consulting agency
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Fundraising acumen–general understanding of digital fundraising best practices and KPI’s, measuring performance and applying data to tactical and strategic decision making
  • Experience with building and maintaining donation forms, surveys and other user engagement features, and running reports/interpreting audience analytics.
  • Familiarity with digital fundraising benchmarks and trends
  • Existing knowledge of digital platforms such as DonorPerfect, Qgiv, Constant Contact, Google Analytics, Facebook/Instagram, WordPress, Salesforce, and more; as well as the confidence to learn new platforms and processes quickly
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript required, mastery would be plus.
  • Real world experience (professionally and/or personally) with Hunger Relief or related Human Services nonprofit verticals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrable skills in creating reports, working in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.) and conveying meaningful insights to relevant stakeholders
