JFCS is looking currently on the lookout for a Controller to join our Fiscal Department, reporting directly to the CFO. An ideal candidate for this role you should be experienced in creating budgets and forecasts, be responsible and be a leader. Additionally, this new Controller position would also a supervise of team of accountants.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
  • Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
  • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.


  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Support the CFO engaging in the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operations.
  • Support current partnerships with other agencies and organizations
  • In collaboration with CFO, produces the annual budget and forecasts;
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit and 990 return.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Excel or similar spreadsheet software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
