The Individual Giving & Special Events Manager is a new position at the LCC and a key member of a growing Development & Communications team charged with leading the LCC into a new chapter of growth and program expansion. Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications, this position will be responsible for three key development functions: Individual Giving, Special Events, and Database & Department Administration. This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors giving $1-$500 through annual appeal mailings, social media, special events, and individualized outreach. This position will develop and implement strategies to deepen engagement with existing donors as well as grow the LCC’s donor base. This position will also oversee internal systems related to individual giving and special events activities, including maintaining database records, developing and integrating fundraising messages within fundraising collateral, and participating in revenue projection and budgeting based on known and potential individual giving opportunities.


Individual Giving

  • Develop a data-driven annual giving strategy for $1-$500 donors that includes proposed annual budget recommendations, monitoring and reporting plans, and key benchmarks and dates
  • Plan, implement, and manage a comprehensive direct mail program and online giving strategy that includes a calendar outlining the proposed campaign activity, expected return on investment, and reporting expectations
  • Develop, implement, and oversee Day of Giving (Give Big Pittsburgh, Critical Needs Alert) fundraising activities and strategies
  • Develop, implement, and oversee in-kind donation drive (school supplies drive, Christmas gift drive) activities
  • Identify effective donor segmentation guidelines and establish processes to improve data integrity to track and analyze fundraising results
  • Through research and best practices, identify, cultivate and solicit individuals for general operating support, monthly giving, and/or event sponsorship

Special Events

  • Increase donor engagement and cultivation by managing an array of fundraising events throughout the year (house parties, in-person/virtual experiences, Los Sabores Cooking Class series, happy hours, networking events), including creating/maintaining guest lists, following up with guests, conducting event evaluations, and soliciting event auction/donation items as needed
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and internal departments to create successful events
  • Lead event committees made up of board and community members
  • Coordinate third party fundraising events and cultivate new events
  • Supervise event interns and volunteers

Database and Department Administration

  • Ensure a timely and accurate gift entry and acknowledgment process, including documentation and follow up of verbal and written pledges
  • Exercise ultimate responsibility of ensuring that information in the Bloomerang database is accurate and complete
  • Create metrics and a reporting system to help track individual giving and special events revenue progress
  • Work with the Digital Communications Specialist on the creation and development of donor communications including: digital content, imagery, printed collateral, and messaging
  • Work effectively with the Development & Communications team to foster a culture of philanthropy organization-wide
  • Participate in monthly financial reconciliation and annual audit processes with Director of Development & Communications and Operations team members
  • Assist with improving and managing functions of the Development & Communications department


  • Three to five years of demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising, including familiarity with managing an annual fund and nonprofit fundraising events
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit database management
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s in nonprofit management or related field preferred


  • A sophisticated understanding of the nature of donors’ relationships with nonprofits and the  ability to use those relationships to drive engagement
  • Highly organized, comfortable with data and research, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and plan work activities effectively
  • Highly skilled communicator with exceptional verbal and written presentation abilities
  • Team player and go-getter with a growth-mindset; takes initiative
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, partners, program staff, and other agency personnel
  • Proficiency with Bloomerang CRM, or other nonprofit development CRM software
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • Must possess excellent computer, organizational, and data management skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including afternoons, evenings, and some weekends is required
  • Understanding of and commitment to professional fundraising ethical standards
  • Spanish Language proficiency preferred but not required
  • Cultural sensitivity to the needs of the Latino community

Hours per Week: 40 Hours Per Week
Salary Range: $50,000-$58,000 per year

Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental

  • Working locations will include, but are not limited to: local schools and universities, the Latino Community Center, and remote work.
  • Frequently required to work at a fast pace.
