Neighborhood North is Beaver County’s first children's museum

Neighborhood North: Museum of Play (NNMOP) is a newly opened children’s museum in Beaver Falls, PA. At Neighborhood North, we believe curiosity and play can strengthen our community by inspiring all to become the next generation of innovative and creative thinkers, creating a more equitable learning ecosystem. Neighborhood North promotes this by inspiring children, supporting families, and building a creative community where play and learning connect through exploration, interactive exhibits, and innovative programming.

NNMOP has recently opened a Preview Space, which is becoming more and more popular with local families and school districts. As we launch, it has become clear that there is great enthusiasm for this project. It is also our goal to renovate the News Tribune building in Beaver Falls, which will require at least $5 Million of funding. As such, we are seeking an hourly, part-time (20 hours a week) Director of Development with the hope of growing this position to full-time.


The Director of Development will provide primary support for all development activities at Neighborhood North. This includes:

  • Management of NN’s donor database, including gift entry, managing the acknowledgment process, and tracking contact reports
  • Preparation and mailing of annual appeals
  • Preparation and sending of e-appeals
  • Donor Research
  • Event Planning and Execution
  • Individual donor solicitation

While this position is a part-time role, Neighborhood North would like to expand to a full-time position as funding becomes available. Desired growth includes:

  • Major donor fundraising, including:
    • Tracking donors through the fundraising cycle (Identification, Qualification, Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship)
    • Engaging in one-on-one donors meetings
  • Campaign Management
    • Maintaining capital campaign lists
    • Strategizing ask meetings and approaches for the campaign
    • Direct all interactions for the campaign
  • Grant Writing and Process Management
    • Becoming part of and overseeing the grant writing process
    • Tracking grants in process, and following -up to ensure that grants are submitted, reported on, and stewarded appropriately

Additional Administrative Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide front desk staff support for the museum
  • Coordinate scheduling of front desk staff
  • Support for marketing initiatives, including writing copy and managing social media accounts
  • Staffing events
  • Any other museum activities as directed

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and experience with G Suite. Ability to quickly learn and navigate Little Green Light, our donor database. Relationship building skills, excellent written and verbal communication. Strong attention to detail and general office/organizational skills.

Experience and Education: Bachelors degree in a relevant field; will consider relevant experience in lieu of education. 1 to 3 years of experience in non-profit development preferred, experience with donor database software desired. This position will need to pass background checks and all PA clearances necessary to work in an environment with children. Must also agree to uphold all values of Neighborhood North as stated.
