About Partners For Quality
Partners For Quality Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization based in Robinson Township, Pennsylvania providing administrative management to five organizations that offer community-based supports and services to 5,000 adults and children with intellectual disabilities and behavioral health challenges in Allegheny County. Partners For Quality employs nearly 1,000 people across five subsidiary organizations: Allegheny Children’s Initiative, Citizen Care Inc, Exceptional Adventures, Milestone Centers, and Partners For Quality Foundation. Our mission is to support people by providing services that promote choice, personal satisfaction and the realization of their hopes and dreams.
Partners For Quality is seeking Board of Director candidates for four of our agencies:
- Citizen Care provides residential and community-based supports and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Exceptional Adventures provides social and travel opportunities to individuals with disabilities.
- Milestone Centers supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges, including drug and alcohol counseling for behavioral health clients.
- Partners For Quality Foundation raises funds and donations for all services throughout our organizations.
Interests: The ideal candidate will be an engaged, enthusiastic, and innovative partner to advance our mission, and have a passion for supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and children, youth, and adults with behavioral health challenges. They will approach the development and delivery of programs and services in a manner that gives the people we support the opportunity to experience and fully participate in all aspects of life.

Diversity: Partners For Quality formed the Committee for Race, Diversity & Inclusion in 2020. The committee includes employees representing the parent company and all subsidiaries, from direct care workers to executive leadership, and board members. The committee, with the full support of Partners For Quality leadership, is reviewing and improving existing processes and policies that impact race and creating new functions to encourage openness and acceptance of all employees. Our goal is to have a diverse Board of Directors that can help guide our organization’s strategies and operations from all possible perspectives.
Board Orientation: New Board Members will be required to complete an orientation process that includes meeting with executive staff and board members; completing a Conflict of Interest statement; and other tasks that will provide a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s history, mission, operations, and strategic plan.
Terms: Board Members hold a term of office for three (3) years and may be elected for two (2) additional terms, with a total possible commitment of nine (9) years. Board members serve on a volunteer basis; there is no compensation associated with this role.
Attendance and Engagement: Board members are expected to attend all meetings, review all materials prior to meetings, come prepared with questions and discussion items, and actively participate. Board meeting frequency varies by agency:
- Citizen Care board meetings are held six (6) times per calendar year in January, March, May, June, September, and November.
- Exceptional Adventures board meetings are held four (4) times per calendar year in January, May, June, and September.
- Milestone Centers board meetings are held six (6) times per calendar year in January, March, May, June, September, and November.
- Partners For Quality Foundation board meetings are held four (4) times per calendar year in January, May, June, and September.
Representation on Parent Board: Partners For Quality, the parent company of Citizen Care, Exceptional Adventures, Milestone Centers, and Partners For Quality Foundation has a board of directors made up of board members from each of its subsidiary company boards. There is the possibility that subsidiary board members may be asked to also sit on the Partners For Quality Board.
Conflict of Interest: Board members must complete an annual Conflict of Interest statement requiring the disclosure of actual and potential conflicts.
Philanthropy: Board members are expected to make a direct financial contribution to the Partners For Quality Foundation each fiscal year. There is no minimum amount required, and each board member should make a contribution that aligns with their financial means. Board members are also expected to actively participate in fundraising events and efforts, and promote the events to friends and associates.
