Reporting to the Development Director, the Grants Manager is responsible for writing persuasive applications, reports and materials for a diverse portfolio of corporate and foundation funders, researching prospective new funding opportunities, and overseeing all project management for the grants portion of PA Women Work’s revenue generating activities. The position requires excellent writing and communication skills, a high attention to detail and deadlines, strategic thinking, a collaborative approach to grant writing and fundraising, and a passion for PA Women Work’s mission.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and maintain an excellent working knowledge of PA Women Work’s mission, vision, programs, and outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to collect up-to-date organizational information, data and financials for grant proposals and reports
  • Research and collect data on relevant and mission-centric topics for inclusion as supporting evidence in grant proposals
  • Lead writing and creation of high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications and supporting documents; collaborate with team members to revise and refine documents for final submission
  • Support the fundraising team’s efforts to cultivate, grow and steward family and corporate foundation relationships
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Development Director and Director of Programs to inform the overall grant and funding strategies
  • Research new and prospective funders and funding opportunities
  • Represent the agency at meetings and/or briefings with current and potential funders as needed
  • Create and maintain an annual grant cycle calendar reflecting grant application and reporting deadlines, as well as cultivation activities
  • Utilize the organization’s donor database and other internal platforms to track grant funding, record files and relationship notes, and generate grant reports
  • Ensure high-quality work and that all grant materials meet funder requirements
  • Participate in department and staff meetings virtually and on-site as needed/requested
  • Support the overall fundraising activities of the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • At least four years of experience, with a demonstrated track record of success securing five and six figure grants
  • Knowledge of and relationships with local grant-making community
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to write in a clear, precise and compelling manner
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines with ease and professionalism
  • Ability and experience working both collaborative and independently to reach goals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom and donor/CRM databases
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field

Salary, Schedule & Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range: $47,000 – $52,000 depending on experience
  • Schedule: regular 4 days a week (32 hours) salaried position; occasional additional hours to meet proposal deadlines may be required
  • Benefits: generous benefits package that includes a flexible work environment; work-from-home opportunities; position is Pittsburgh-based
