Reporting to and under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Diversity (COS/VP)and Executive Assistant to the Vice President and Finance/Principal Investigator (PI) for the Office for the Violence Against Women’s (OVW) grant, and in collaboration with members of Sonoma State University’s Coordinated Campus Response Team (CCR), the OVW Administrative Specialist performs varied administrative, technical and analytical duties and provides day to day oversight for the planning and roll out of the bystander intervention program and support for outreach, recruiting, and training initiatives as related to the creation of the program, and assists the PI in the preparation of the administrative components of the grant according to the parameters of the grant guidelines to ensure the project achieves its stated goals. Work involves participation in the development, alteration, implementation and evaluation of the grant’s program’s policies and procedures. The incumbent independently plans and performs research, compiles data and prepares and presents reports with reliable conclusions and recommendations in relation to the bystander program for action within the Campus Coordinated Response team. The incumbent contributes to the completion of broad and more complex organizational or program projects and goals, often providing project and program leadership. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university, and include dealing with sensitive and confidential information and situations.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree preferably in Student Affairs, Women and Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related fields and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, specifically as related to domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, plus two years of related experience in dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking programming. In addition, one year working directly with grants, program development and implementation, and coordination of student support services geared to college students is preferred. Familiarity with and/or ability to quickly gain understanding of California State University (CSU) policies and procedures. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, social media platforms, and PeopleSoft preferred.
Salary and Benefits
The anticipated starting salary placement depends on qualifications, experience and salary budget, and will not exceed $3,503.25 a month at a 75% time base. This is a part time, temporary, exempt position. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual’s performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
