About House of Valor:

Established in 2019, The House of Valor is the only male-focused organization dedicated to helping men in transition with clothing needs. We partner with local agencies to provide clothing to men so their outward appearance better represents the man they truly are. While some say that clothes make the man, we believe the man makes the clothes!

Our mission is to help men in transition by providing clothing and support so they can more confidently approach any situation and become the person they were created to be.

When a man makes the commitment to transition from a difficult situation or get back on his feet he shouldn’t have to worry about what he’s wearing for a court hearing or new job interview. The House Of Valor aims to provide him with the clothing that will allow him to focus on letting his best be present! Men served include veterans, those affected by addiction, employment seekers, and others in challenging situations.

Our founding board members have committed time and financial resources to get The House Of Valor to this far in fulfilling the mission. We are grateful for your interest in joining us in helping these men on their journeys to become better sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, but most importantly the incredible men they were created to be!


We seek founding members for The House of Valor’s board of directors. Enthusiastic ambassadors for our mission, board members are expected to serve unselfishly in meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of men in the community. Board members shall be exceptional marketers, master networkers, and spiritually aligned with the core values of The House of Valor.As a leading body of The House of Valor and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for:

  • Selecting and evaluating the performance of the president and Executive Director
  • Strategic and organizational planning
  • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
  • Fundraising and resource development
  • Approving and monitoring The House of Valor’s programs and services
  • Acting as ambassadors for The House of Valor’s public image
  • Assessing its own performance as the governing body of The House of Valor

We specifically seek individuals who can contribute the following skills and experience: website development, online merchandising, marketing/communications, fundraising, financial expertise, and social enterprise start-ups.

As a recently incorporated nonprofit, The House of Valor board of directors will initially be a “working board,” where board members actively do the organization’s work—participate in program work, fundraising, and administrative work. Through the investment and fundraising of this founding board, work will transition to paid staff including: Executive Director, Shop Manager, Program Coordinator, Processing Coordinator, and Bookkeeper.

Members of the Board of Directors shall empower the Executive Director to manage the affairs of The House of Valor, including evaluating staff, programs and mission impact.

Individual Commitment and Expectations:

Each member of the board of directors for The House of Valor commits to:

  • Know The House of Valor’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
  • Bear responsibility for safeguarding the Purpose of the
  • Corporation with a commitment to its mission and philosophy
  • Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and provide oversight on all fiscal activity, including approval of the annual budget
  • Fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for The House of Valor to advance its mission
  • Help identify and leverage connections, networks, and resources that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can advance its mission
  • Sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure
  • Maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of The House of Valor

Each Director shall make a personal investment in the Corporation by:

  • Making a personal financial donation annually
  • Providing leadership role in the community to promote the mission of The House of Valor
  • Attending Board meetings (six bimonthly meetings, starting in January) prepared for active participation. BOD members absent for 3 meetings per year will be removed.
  • Being an active member on at least one Standing Committee: Financial Committee, Fundraising Committee, and Evaluation Committee, as well as Ad Hoc Committees.
  • Contributing to and being actively involved in major fundraising efforts.
  • Completing Volunteer Training to become familiar with and uphold standardized event policies.
