ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

New Sun Rising (NSR) envisions empowered communities that equitably and sustainably contribute to the growth of people, places, and ideas.  We pursue this vision by strengthening nonprofits, social enterprises, and collaborations through capacity building, accessible funding, and data + creative advocacy services.  NSR recognizes that not all people and places enjoy the same level of access to the information, technology, and networks necessary to increase their impact.   Our support helps disinvested communities to organize and build power that promotes regenerative, net positive development.

New Sun Rising invests resources through strategies in the Vibrant Communities Framework which reflect our core values of promoting an equitable + inclusive society, through adaptive processes, and asset-based practices.  We help people to create a positive impact by strengthening culture, promoting sustainability, and creating opportunity, as measured and coordinated through the Sustainable Development Goals.  The Director of Vibrancy Funds will lead initiatives to support New Sun Rising and our clients in order to make progress towards all 17 of these goals.

As a small, committed team with four full time employees, three part-time employees, nine board members, and over one hundred project contractors, New Sun Rising stands out as an innovative, risk tolerant, learning organization.  We prioritize the needs of our partners and clients, encourage creative approaches to problem solving which honor individual experiences, and do our best to keep it real.
