This role serves in an advanced administrative capacity and reports directly to the Dean. The Director of Administration is a senior level position with leadership and strategic advisory functions within GSPIA. The Director leads the day-to-day administration, reporting, and long-term planning responsibilities in alignment with GSPIA’s strategic plan, for all business, financial, compliance, audit, and research administration activities within the School. The Director of Administration manages the School’s annual budget development, financial aid budgeting, and tuition revenue and enrollment projections. The Director serves as the Responsibility Center (RC) level human resources and purchasing approver for the school and as GSPIA’s liaison for University of Pittsburgh’s central administration functions, including implementation of new Pitt practices and systems at the school level. The Director plays a key role in creating and implementing processes, workflows, policies, and procedures that ensure administrative efficiency, transparency, compliance, and support of school priorities. The Director supports staff directors in annual work planning and budgeting efforts, in alignment with the school’s strategic plan and resources. The role oversees staff responsible for budget and finance implementation, pre- and post-award processes and management, operations, facilities, human resources, and IT. In all functions, the Director engages with pertinent University units (e.g. Provost’s Office, Controller’s Office, Office for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) as needed to ensure alignment between University and school processes, policies, and procedures. Position supervises the Assistant Director of Budget & Finance, Assistant Director of Operations and Pre-Award Administrator.
Masters degree in business, finance or public administration preferred. Bachelors degree in business or finance with 10+ years of experience can be substituted for Master’s degree requirement. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or other financial certification a plus.
