YWCA is on a Mission
The YWCA of Westmoreland County is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering women and eliminating racism in our community. The YWCA strives to foster, support and promote opportunities for development and growth for individuals of diverse backgrounds, but especially girls and women in Westmoreland County. In addition, the YWCA looks for opportunities to educate our community on the subjects of diversity, racial and gender equality and inclusion.
The YWCA of Westmoreland County’s Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. As the preeminent educational resource for diversity, equity and inclusion, The YWCA’s own board strives to be a model of diversity working together to further our mission.
Our board members champion the importance of exceptional leadership, teamwork and unity. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization, the mission and programming. Board members are expected to be fully engaged with the organization through financial support, identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships necessary for YWCA in Westmoreland County to advance its mission.
Nonprofit Organization Management
Job Title: Volunteer Board Member (Multiple positions available)
Advocacy, volunteer, committee member (min of 2),
Volunteer (commitment of two (2) three (3) year terms)
The YWCA of Westmoreland County Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the YWCA of Westmoreland County Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening our community and expanding opportunities for diversity, equity and inclusion.
Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand YWCA of Westmoreland County’s financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
Board members are expected to attend 8 board meetings per year. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work.
Board members are expected to play an active role in securing financial resources necessary for YWCA of Westmoreland County to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in YWCA of Westmoreland County’s work by making a personal contribution each year.
Board members are expected to responsibly represent YWCA of Westmoreland County to their respective communities and to advocate for YWCA of Westmoreland County’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.
Board terms last for three years and board members are elected to serve up to two (2) consecutive terms. No Director may serve more than two (2) full terms in succession unless exception is made according
