Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse (PCCR) is seeking passionate individuals to join our board in January 2023. We welcome all individuals who are committed to our mission, and are especially seeking individuals who have expertise in the following areas: finance and general business, human resources, real estate, government and policy, and retail as well as a commitment to sustainability and social justice. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who are able to operate independently and will ideally have previous nonprofit and/or board experience.
PCCR inspires creativity, conservation, and community engagement through reuse. We operate a non-traditional art, craft, and creative supply store where people can donate used art and craft supplies, as well as shop for unique and low-priced items. We welcome approximately 21,000 people to our store each year, and annually receive over 3,000 donations, adding up to over 52 tons of useful materials that could have otherwise ended up in a landfill. PCCR is very active in the Pittsburgh community; we annually partner with approximately 100 community organizations to bring creative education programs to thousands of participants.
Board members serve a minimum two year term with the option to renew up to eight years. Board members can expect to commit to the following:
Attend at least 5 of the 6 bimonthly board meetings per year
Attend one committee meeting every other month, opposite the full board meetings
Spend around 3 hours each month on independent tasks
No minimum financial obligation; we do ask members to make PCCR a philanthropic priority and commit to an annual personally meaningful fundraising goal.
PCCR embraces diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism as core to our mission. We strive to build a team that reflects our community and represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We encourage individuals of any identity to apply.
Applications will be accepted until October 1, 2022.
To apply, please send us your resume and/or a short write-up about why you want to join our board.
