The Neighborhood Academy (TNA) is a faith-based, college preparatory, independent school whose mission is to break the cycle of generational poverty by empowering youth and preparing them for college and citizenship.
TNA exists to provide a holistic college-prep education for students in grades 6-12 whose families who demonstrate financial need. TNA is designed to remove every barrier that prevents young people from thinking about their futures and the steps needed to achieve their goals. Our holistic set of programs ensures that all issues affecting young people are addressed. Students who cross our threshold enter into a tight-knit network of concerned adults who constantly evaluate their progress; in return, they commit to valuing their education, setting new habits of heart and mind, and growing into adults with character who will contribute to their communities. It is our belief that all students should have access to a high-quality education no matter a student’s background or socio-economic status.
TNA is a truly exceptional learning community that values character development, the self-respect that comes through hard work, academic achievement, and responsibility to and for the community. Our students learn to think well, write well, and speak well, all with an eye to a future when they will live well. The results of our commitment are simply extraordinary — 100% of our seniors are accepted to college, and our alumni boast an 81% five-year college graduation rate over the past decade. (well above the national average)!
