Trinity Cathedral Facilities Manager – Job Description August 2025
Position Summary:The Cathedral Facilities Manager is responsible for the cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and general stewardship of the Cathedral’s buildings and grounds. This position supports the mission and ministry of the parish by ensuring that the facilities are welcoming, well-maintained, and ready for worship, parish life, and community events.
Reports to Canon for Administration
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Maintenance
Ensure all systems (HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety) are functioning properly and schedule regular inspections.
Oversee and/or conduct minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.) and coordinate with our vendors and contractors for major repairs.
Oversee routine cleaning of the nave and chancel, parish hall, classrooms, offices, restrooms, and other spaces.
Event Support
Set up and break down spaces for worship, meetings, parish events, and outside group usage.
Ensure spaces are prepared according to the needs of each event (furniture, AV equipment, supplies, etc.).
Serve as on-site contact for outside groups using church facilities.
Groundskeeping
Maintain church grounds, including mowing, raking, snow removal, and general landscaping.
Ensure sidewalks, entrances, and parking areas are safe and accessible.
Inventory and Supplies
Monitor inventory and ordering of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
Maintain inventory of church property and equipment.
Safety and Security
Open and secure buildings according to parish schedule.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and report any hazards.
Respond to emergencies as needed.
Collaboration
Work closely with clergy, staff, and volunteers to support parish programs.
Attend staff meetings as requested.
Qualifications
Experience in facilities management, custodial work, or building maintenance necessary.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Respect for the mission and values of the Episcopal Church and Trinity Cathedral.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs/ladders as needed.
