The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1969 by several area musicians and community leaders. The orchestra has grown in both size and professionalism. The current season includes 4 classical concerts in the historic Palace Theatre, a Home for the Holidays concert with choral singers, as well as collaboration with a local ballet for performances of the Nutcracker. The WSO also performs a very popular summer outdoor concert and Young People’s Concerts for area elementary school students. The WSO Academy of Music includes the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as additional music education programs for youth and adults. The Friday Evening Music Club performs ensemble concerts in small group settings. Daniel Meyer is the WSO’s popular and experienced Artistic Director. His keen musical intellect, innovative programs and engaging presence invigorates orchestras and facilitates his commitment to connecting with the community.
