We are looking for an experienced and passionate Youth Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working with youth, a passion for helping young people reach their potential, and strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing activities, providing guidance and support to young people, and developing strategies to ensure the safety of all participants.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement activities for youth.
  • Provide guidance and support to youth.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for youth.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians about the progress of the youth.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with youth and staff.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the program.
  • Provide resources to youth in need.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate group programs
  • Conduct educational activities and workshops for the youth, giving them a safe forum in which to ask for assistance
  • Coordinate events, including excursions like camping trips, participation in marches/rallies, etc.
  • Ensure proper permissions are obtained and funding is available
  • Coordinate trip details , including transportation, hotels, meals, etc.
  • Provide guidance related to identifying and applying for scholarships
  • Participate in community organizing efforts to engage the youth
  • Engage in advocacy efforts on behalf of the youth, young adults, immigrants and low-income community members
  • Maintain a social media presence

  • Language Skills – ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; creative writing. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
  • Reasoning Ability – ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other – knowledgeable about available resources for Latino immigrants; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in social service, education or related field. Experience with immigrant services, youth programming or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Fluency in Spanish; strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred: fluency in Spanish reading and writing preferred.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day with occasional overnight travel required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, to talk, to hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 37.5 per week
