Strategic and intellectually curious professional who adheres to the highest ethical standards and espouses an empathetic disposition and respect for neighbors in need whom we serve. Collaboratively works to support cultivation and stewardship activities to retain individual, community, corporate and foundation donors. Plans and executes cross-departmental stewardship and top donor activities to grow the Food Bank’s donor pipeline. Manages key major, middle and planned giving stewardship programs to increase giving and deepen engagement with living donors who’ve made deferred commitments. Creates compelling fundraising content for proposals, stewardship reports and other impact pieces. Performs a variety of data-informed tasks to support strategic giving projects.

Key Responsibilities


  • Create and project manage cross-departmental cultivation and stewardship plans for a variety of donor types; support Development teammates with the execution of plan touchpoints
  • Ensure major donors receive timely and personalized interactions that retain and grow their philanthropic support
  • Establish key collaborative relationships across Food Bank departments to identify opportunities for donor engagement
  • Promote a culture of stewardship and stewardship best practices across donor groups and the overall organization

Program Management

  • Collaboratively plan annual activities and oversee event logistics for Planting Purposeful Seeds, the Food Bank’s philanthropy education program
  • Manage, cultivate and steward the Food Bank’s Heirloom Society (~100 living, planned giving donors), in partnership with the Major and Planned Giving Team
  • Oversee the middle donor program, working both internally and externally with the Food Bank’s direct response partner
  • Support the planning and execution of department-wide stewardship programs as assigned

Donor Pipeline Management

  • Facilitate monthly top donor meeting, ensure appropriate agenda items and follow-up happen in a timely manner
  • Analyze and report on individual middle, major and planned giving prospect pools
  • Create strategies to engage and qualify middle and major donors for the individual major gift portfolios
  • Serve as a department resource on portfolio tiering and cultivation plans to assist relationship managers move supporters through the donor pipeline across all fundraising verticals

Content Creation

  • Prepare and proactively share materials and assist with the creation of customized proposals, solicitation letters and stewardship reports
  • Regularly maintain and update strategic giving content on the Food Bank’s website
  • Collaborate with teammates to create and refresh content related to strategic giving vehicles such as planned gifts, appreciated stock, donor-advised funds, and IRAs
  • Create strategic donor meeting and prospect research materials as requested

Other Development Opportunities

  • Provide administrative fundraising support to the Major and Planned Giving Team and Chief Development Officer
  • Provide prompt, courteous and accurate customer service to donors, prospective donors and volunteers 
  • Assist Directors of Major and Planned Giving and Development and Donor Operations with various research and/or special projects.
  • Use the Food Bank’s CRM DonorPerfect to create, update and maintain donor records and activities
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3+ years professional experience in nonprofit development/fundraising. Experience with donor relations, customer service and project management. Other qualifications include:
  • Familiarity with frontline, relationship-based fundraising teams using a portfolio model is a plus
  • Interest in fundraising best practices and planned, major and annual giving programs
  • Ability to collaborate across a variety of internal departments as well as partner and engage with a wide range of external stakeholders, including donors and volunteers of all backgrounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to proactively analyze information and recommend action steps.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure excellent quality
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, and Database software. Prior experience with a fundraising CRM is a plus.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality, sensitivity, tact, diplomacy and ethics
  • Act 33 & 34 Clearances
