The University of Pittsburgh's Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to join a progressive team within the Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation (MWRIF). MWRIF is a non-profit foundation created to support the mission of UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital (MWH) and Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI). The foundation raises philanthropic support to fund research, programmatic and capital priorities of these organizations.
The Major Gifts Officer provides direct fundraising services to former residents and fellow alumni of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology through the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. This position participates and/or provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising projects and programs to meet established development goals as well as personally identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects in accordance with performance targets set by the Foundation. The incumbent is responsible for successfully soliciting gifts of $10,000 and above.
Occasional travel required for national alumni receptions and evening/weekends as needed.

3. Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long-and short-range development
initiatives to meet established priorities.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of
individuals and constituencies.
5. Working knowledge of a variety of fundraising strategies and methods.
6. Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively one-on-one
and to small groups.
8. Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to
development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers,
PAE cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni, and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research, and care. As the hub for development and alumni relations efforts, PAE contributes to a bold, vibrant, and diverse academic community.

Bachelor's degree required. Preferred experience in clinical fundraising; will consider experience in sales if they have demonstrated experience in developing relationships with prospects, growing pipelines and portfolio management, and proven business development strategies to increase overall net worth. Other applicable work experience (especially positions in direct contact with customers) will be considered. Combination of education and experience may be substituted. A current TB test and drug screen will be required as a condition of employment.
