Job Title: Data & Tech Specialist

Reports to: Director of Finance & Operations

Position Type: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: PACE is a growing nonprofit that provides support to small and midsized nonprofits throughout the Southwestern PA region. The Data & Tech Specialist will work closely with all members of the PACE team to effectively manage, coordinate, organize and analyze data focusing on continuous quality improvement, confidentiality and a keen aptitude for accurately predicting outcomes based on data trends. A successful candidate will be organized, demonstrate an ability to interpret processing results, and be able to communicate results effectively to internal and external stakeholders through graphics, orally and in writing. This role requires an ability to interpret data, problem-solving, and understand the interrelationship of multi-step processes and how those processes connect operational practices and business goals.


  • Supports the accurate and timely reporting of process and outcome metrics for all programming which includes reports for internal use, performance and quality improvement processes
  • Act as primary point of contact for PACE’s Nonprofit Effectiveness Study NES and the Regional Indicators of Community and Nonprofit Wellbeing map tool
  • Acts as primary point of contact for the Impact Capacity Assessment Tool or iCAT
  • Conducts analysis of organization’s key performance indicators for PACE
  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets, particularly PACE’s longitudinal data
  • Improve and customize current data solutions to meet PACE’s requirements
  • Take current evaluation tools i.e. ICAT, POCAT (PACE Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool) and others and use the feedback from those and other surveys to recommend program changes and new ways to leverage the data to aid PACE future programming
  • Provide basic technical support to users at all stages and offer basic guidance to applicants about programs, requirements, and other questions
  • Support the Director of Finance & Operations in assessing and managing PACE’s IT needs
  • Conducts research in support of program development and execution
  • Supports and trains team members in the daily use of PACE data systems
  • Comply with, create and enforce policies for effective data management
  • Exhibit and maintain trust-based and productive relationships with a wide range of organizations and individuals, funding partners, and PACE employees
  • Support organizations in PACE programs with the collecting, interpreting and reporting their program data
  • Collaborate with team members in ongoing learning and process improvement, incorporating external and internal feedback to constantly improve how we do our work
  • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities and participate in organization-wide training sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • A minimum of 3-5 years of related IT, database management and Analyst related experience is desired (Internships, volunteer work may count as relevant experience)
  • MS Preferred. A BS degree in IT or related field is highly desired


  • Strong project management experience, including the ability to plan and implement projects both independently and with colleagues
  • A track record of being able to meet tight, sometimes simultaneous, deadlines with a keen ability to prioritize, adapt to changing needs, and partner with others to meet common goals
  • Excellent detail orientation and accurate data entry while considering how those details impact the bigger picture
  • Good writing, analytical and problem‐solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and phone skills
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of organization, planning, records and data management, and general administration
  • Keen ability to take complex data and deliver it in easy to read and understand outputs/deliverables
  • Able to follow instructions, including adherence to all policies, standards, and behaviors consistent with employees of PACE
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn and become proficient with systems; advanced MS Word and Excel skills including mail-merge, ability to create spreadsheet databases, and use of advanced MS features and functions is preferred
  • Advanced Google suite skills include G-Mail, Google Search, and Google Docs
  • Working knowledge of statistical software, such as SPSS
  • Aptitude to learn new skills, including the organization’s web-based data management systems (Salsa) and any others that apply
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to the following: computer, business phone system, calculator, and print/copy work center
  • Ability to participate, on occasion, in after business hours and Saturday meetings
  • Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Experience working with a professionally, socioeconomically and ethnically diverse population
