SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Digital Marketing Specialist is an adept marketing professional who is deeply engaged in marketing and social media trends, with special emphasis on content management. The Digital Marketing Specialist creates and manages content for the National Aviary’s owned and earned channels, including but not limited to social media, website, and email campaigns with the goal of strengthening community relationships, and growing revenue potential for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates compelling content for and manages National Aviary social media channels, including researching and implementing ongoing best practices.
  • Develops, manages, and optimizes the National Aviary website, making regular updates to ensure accuracy, ease of use, organization of content, prioritization of revenue driving content, and maximization of inbound traffic through SEO.
  • Evaluates and influences third party web content, including by not limited to Google Business, Yelp, Visit Pittsburgh, Wikipedia, and other key public information sources.
  • Develops and implements email-marketing campaigns and manages subscriber lists to grow the Aviary’s communication potential, both in scale and segmentation capabilities, meeting or exceeding industry standards for email performance.
  • Leads and maintains editorial calendar to align marketing campaigns to organizational priorities.
  • Supports visual content development, working closely with marketing team, the National Aviary’s photographer, and external photographers.
  • Supports reporting and measurement of owned and earned channels through data collection, organization and analysis.
  • Aligns digital communication with overall marketing campaign strategies and organizational goals.
  • Supports multi-media advertising campaigns (digital, print, broadcast, and outdoor), as needed.
  • Ensures brand consistency for all materials and communications.
  • Adheres to all National Aviary protocols and procedures.
  • Interacts with visitors utilizing National Aviary Visitor Engagement protocol.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Digital Marketing Specialist has no supervisory responsibilities, except for seasonal interns.

 SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent writing skills, and experience writing copy for marketing, sales or professional communication purposes
  • Photography experience using DSLR Point & Shoot Camera
  • Proficient using video editing software
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Social Media management or social media content creation experience
  • Experience writing content for website and marketing emails
  • Knowledge of social media, email, and website best practices and trends
  • Ability to research and continue to be informed on content marketing best practices
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Highly creative

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in marketing, public relations, business administration, communications, journalism, or related discipline.
  • 2-4 years related experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Certification
  • Satisfactory FBI Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass Department of Motor Vehicles check

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly operates a computer and occasionally moves about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environments will include climate-controlled office spaces; public areas where the noise level may be loud; outdoors where work may need to be done in inclement weather conditions, including extremes of temperature and precipitation.

POSITION TYPE/ EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
