Background

The Lauri Ann West Community Center (LAWCC) enriches lives and strengthens the community by providing a welcoming place for community engagement. The friendly atmosphere, innovative programming, and first-class facilities provide an inviting community gathering place.

Located in the Township of O’Hara, Pennsylvania the Center was founded in 1982 by a group of dedicated citizens who sought to repurpose a closed elementary school as a community resource. In the fall of 2015, LAWCC moved from the elementary school building to a larger, newly constructed $10M facility on an eleven-acre park. The Center serves the six municipalities that comprise the Fox Chapel Area School District– Aspinwall, Blawnox, Fox Chapel, Indiana Township, O’Hara, and Sharpsburg - as well as surrounding communities. Membership, camp and program customer base includes more than 2,500 families.

The Center offers the community a full-service fitness center, complete with best-in-class equipment, along with a full size gymnasium and indoor walking track. Classes in the arts and STEM-related disciplines for all ages (preschool through adult) are also provided to the community at either a nominal charge or through scholarship funding. A café and outdoor patio round out the Center’s offerings.
