Development Manager
Reports to: Executive Vice President of Philanthropy
Hours: FT Position – 40 hours per week, exempt, must be able to work weekends or weeknights as needed
Mission and Need: Holy Family Institute (HFI) is a 120-year-old Catholic organization with an impeccable history of serving children and families in the Pittsburgh Region. We are one of Pittsburgh’s largest social service organizations operating 15 programs in three counties. We are an independent organization guided by Catholic Social Teachings and serving people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Manager works closely with the EVP of Philanthropy on the development and execution of plans to raise philanthropic support to achieve annual and campaign revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages individual donor giving programs including developing and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to secure philanthropic support.
- Leads the planning and execution of special fundraising events including, Courage House Luncheon, Annual Golf Event, and other development events. Secures sponsors to meet fundraising goals, manages vendors and works with volunteers effectively, especially event planning committees.
- Leads the agency United Way campaign and serves as the primary contact for United Way; encourage support through United Way corporate campaigns; and evaluate performance of annual campaigns.
- Plans marketing, communication and outreach activities related to increasing individual and corporate participation in state tax credit programs.
- Utilizes Raiser’s Edge database to manage prospect and donor activity.
- Creates budgets and fundraising projections for events and other fundraising activities.
- Prepares regular financial reports to analyze performance of fundraising activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Specific Skills:
- 3-5 years’ direct fundraising experience in a non-profit setting or Development office.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, business or related field optional.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing ability.
- Strong project management, organizational and leadership skills with attention to deadlines and details, in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills and high-level computer proficiency.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects concurrently and to interact effectively with staff, vendors and volunteers. individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Self-directed, takes initiative, problem-solver.
- Ability to work independently and interdependently to accomplish goals and outcomes.
- Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other donor database.
- Act 33/34 clearances and FBI clearances. EOE
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
