This new position will oversee the operation of payroll and benefits for Every Child, a human service organization serving Allegheny, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. This position requires strong attention to detail. Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Prepare semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried staff, including reviewing and importing hours from the time and attendance system, entering tax and direct deposit information, administering regulatory requirements, and other adjustments to pay as necessary
  • Support onboarding/offboarding processes related to payroll, benefits, and compliance (I-9)
  • Coordinates annual benefit open enrollment. This includes preparing (or revising) and distributing materials, conducting meetings to communicate changes to employees, arranging for representation by providers, and processing changes within deadlines
  • Serve as admin of HRIS systems and maintain data entered into systems (payroll, benefits, etc.)
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations in HR-related areas
  • Serve as the direct contact for employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits
  • Reviews benefit billings for accuracy and approve for payment
  • Maintains complete employee personnel files, records, and other documentation for employees, including processing new employees, forms for employment status changes, and maintaining accurate files
  • Generates files/reports for benefits plans, annual audits, and ad hoc reports about payroll and human resources requirements

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with respect to payroll, employee benefits, human resources, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field
  • HR, payroll, or benefit certifications are a plus (SHRM-CP, CPP, CBP, etc.).
  • Experience with managing a payroll and benefits system (PayCor is a plus).
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Superior organizational skills and proven ability to successfully manage multiple deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, professional etiquette, good time management skills, work schedule flexibility, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and take initiative on assignments
  • Highly collaborative problem solver with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently in a reliable manner with minimal supervision.
